Recipe - Crochet Bows - Time: 1 Afternoon

Ingredients

  • Yarn
  • Crochet Hook
  • Pin Back
  • Alligator Clip
  • Tapestry Needle

You Will Also Need:

  • Scissors
Step 1

1. Create A Slipknot

Loop the yarn around in a circle, take the end of the yarn and pull through the loop (but not all the way through). Put your needle the loop just created and pull the tail so the loop is snug on the needle.

Step 2

2. Crochet A Chain

Wrap the yarn around the hook once (yarn over YO) and pull through the loop you made in the previous step. Repeat 24 more times, so that your chain is 25 stitches long.

Step 3

3. Half Double Chrochet

Wrap the yarn around the hook once (yarn over), and put the needle in the third chain from your hook. Yarn over again, and pull through the first loop on the hook.

Step 4

4. Half Double Crochet Continued

You will have three loops on your needle, yarn over again, and pull the three loops through the yarn over you just made. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you get to the end of the row

Step 5

5. Next Row

When you complete the row, make 2 chain stitches, and repeat steps 3-5 to complete 1 more rows (3 rows total). Make sure to catch both loops of the stitch from the row before.

Step 6

6. Finishing Off

At the end of the third row, make one chain stitch, cut the yarn, and then pull the end through the loop and pull tightly to make a knot. Using the tapestry needle, weave the tails ends on both ends of the bow piece.

Step 7

7. Creating The Bow

Find the center of the bow piece, and fold in both sides to the center. Whip stitch the ends together and finish off.

Step 8

8. Creating The Center

Wrap the yarn around the center to make the center of the bow. Secure the tail ends on the backside of the bow.

Step 9

9. Accessorize

Glue the bow to pin back or alligator clip.

Step 10

10. Other Ideas

You can also sew finished bows to clothing or bags, or up cycle an old necklace by gluing a bow on to an old necklace chain.
