Hi…Tina here today with a great way to expand your creative options with your Crafternoon kits.
Hazel & Ruby has released many amazing Crafternoon kits and they come with all the supplies to create fun and super quick projects, all in an afternoon. One of the holiday kits is a Pom Pom Felt Stocking kit that I immediately fell in love with. Well, the holidays came and went, and I ran out of time to create the stocking. So now what?
Instead of letting the kit sit until Christmas rolls around next year, I thought it would be fun to turn the kit into a Memory book that can hold photos of this Christmas festivities.
Using the felt from the Stocking kit, I cut 2 sections approx 6″ x 7″ and 2 sections approx 4″ x 3″. These will make up the cover and one of the inside pages.
To construct the cover, I layered several ribbon pieces across the bottom of one piece of the larger felt and stitched in place.
On the same piece, I adhered the 2 pom-poms to the felt, and hand-stitched the year.
On the other large piece of felt, I repeated the process with different ribbon. I also hand-stitched the word happy onto this piece.
To adhere these 2 large pieces of felt together, I stitched together using a blanket stitch, using embroidery floss.
Using the same technique, I embellished the smaller pieces of felt with more ribbon and hand-stitched words.
To create more pages for memory keeping, I added heavy cardstock, cut to both the large and small size. For more fun, I added some 4″ Gold Confetti dot DIY Decor Tape to the outer edge of each paper insert.
To bind the smaller felt piece and paper signatures to the cover, I used a basic pamphlet stitch and waxed thread. Easy and simple.
I added 2 metal closures to the front and back cover, and looped a piece of sari ribbon through to hold it all together.
Even though I didn’t create the Crafternoon project ‘out of the box’, I still created a fun DIY project in an afternoon. Win!
I hope you enjoyed my Memory book and had a wonderful holiday season!
Thanks for stopping by!
