Hello, Hazel & Ruby friends! Margie Higuchi here with a “Back to School” project using Broadside Alpha Stencil-Mask, Quote Me Fat Roll, Washi Tape and Too Cool Pic Pockets to create a DIY Chalkboard Clipboard!
I needed to make this a masculine piece for my son who is entering his senior year in high school…sniff, sniff!! His school colors are maroon and gold so I used the gold for the lettering (SHS = Schaumburg High School). I picked up this NOTES clipboard from the dollar spot at a big box chain store
I primed it with Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® Gesso. Two coats with dry time in between did the trick! The clip was also covered with Gesso.
The color I used was Butterscotch acrylic paint and I covered the surface with two to three coats (dry time in between coats). Then I added my SHS from Broadside Alpha Stencil-Mask on top. Then I went to cover the entire area with Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® Chalkboard Paint. I gave it three coats (don’t forget the dry time in between!). The NOTES clip also was covered in the paint – decided that after looking at once everything was dried – LOL!
Next I peeled off the letters and tried to clean them but chalkboard paint is tough to get off. I’m not worried they are still good to use – they are repositionable and can be used over and over again! LOVE THEM!
Add photo in Too Cool Pic Pockets. Draw, write and/or color with chalk or white marker to fit the theme. I used Faber-Castell® Design Memory Craft® PITT® Pastel Pencil in white and Stamper’s Big White Pen to create the effect!
Add a magnet or easel stand on the back and it’s ready to be used in a locker or desk top!
